Nielsen Racing look ahead to the Asian Le Mans Series beginning in China

Having conducted extensive testing following the final round of the European Le Mans Series recently in Portimao, Nielsen Racing return to the Asian Le Mans Series for the second time with a two-car programme.

After finishing third on their debut in 2018-19, Tony Wells and Colin Noble team up once again, both carrying over a great level of continuity and understanding of the new Norma LMP3 from the European programme.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to the series with Nielsen Racing and Tony after the experience we gained together last year,” said Noble. “This year we have a new car and a lot of information from the chassis which we believe can only help us in pushing for wins.”

As already confirmed, the team has a second Norma for Rob Hodes and Garret Grist, both of whom showed well last season on the way to second in class. For Nielsen Racing, the opportunity to field two cars will once again provide them with additional data which is crucial in driving the team forward against the competition.

“There are four other cars in our class and another 20 in the field, so we are expecting some good racing,” stated Team Principal, David ‘Sven’ Thompson. “We took the chance to get plenty of running at Portimao recently and now know this Norma chassis well. We have learned a lot in European Le Mans and we can apply this to the Asian championship.

“Naturally we are aiming high with both cars and we look forward to Friday practice where we can adjust ourselves to the unique demands of the Shanghai circuit.”

Friday is given over to practice with qualification on the Saturday and the first round of the championship getting underway at 09:45 local time.
