When wheel cleaning needs to mean business

Nielsen Wheel Cleaning products

When you’re managing a fleet or operating in the heavy-duty vehicle world, there’s no time for second-rate cleaning solutions. Dealing with stubborn brake dust, thick road film, or oxidised aluminium means that your wheel cleaner needs to perform. That’s where Nielsen Professional steps in.

Meet our two best-in-class solutions: Non-Acid Wheel Cleaner (L015) and Acid Wheel Cleaner (L194). Both pack a punch, but each is designed for a specific kind of cleaning challenge. This blog explores what sets them apart and which one your business could benefit the most from.

Nielsen Wheel Cleaning applications

Wheel cleaning without the corrosion: Non-acid Wheel Cleaner (L015)

Not every job calls for acids – especially when dealing with aluminium-sided vehicles or sensitive surfaces. Our high-alkaline, Non-Acid Wheel Cleaner is built to cut through road film, grease, and brake dust while staying kind to concrete floors and paintwork.

To get the best results from Nielsen’s Non-Acid Wheel Cleaner, dilute the product between 1:4 and 1:30, depending on the level of soiling, then apply with a brush or spray. Let it sit for up to five minutes, agitating stubborn grime if needed, before rinsing thoroughly with water. Always test on a small, inconspicuous area first – especially with painted or aluminium surfaces – as the formula is designed to etch oxide films and may alter the finish. Avoid use on anodised aluminium, and never let the product dry out during application.

When only the strong stuff will do: Acid Wheel Cleaner (L194)

Sometimes, brake dust builds up like it’s welded on. That’s when you need our Acid Wheel Cleaner, which is formulated to break the bond between grime and your wheel surfaces with minimal scrubbing required.
For optimal performance, dilute Nielsen’s Acid Wheel Cleaner at 1:12 with water and apply generously to wheel surfaces. Allow a brief dwell time, agitating gently with a wheel brush if needed, then rinse thoroughly using high-pressure water. As with any acid-based product, take care, avoid using on chrome, anodised aluminium, or un-lacquered wheels, and steer clear of areas with damaged lacquer. Never let the product dry out during use.

Which one when?

  • Go Non-Acid for safer, routine cleans and aluminium-friendly finishes.
  • Use Acid when time is tight, and the dirt is heavy-duty.

Many professionals keep both on hand, rotating usage based on the condition of their fleet and surface type. Why compromise when you can customise?
